Homework
Students will have homework every night Monday-Thursdays. Please check your child's planner and sign the comment section daily. This is the first step to instilling responsibility and organization! If your child is having difficulty with the homework, please let me know so that I can work with your child.
Reading -20-25 minutes of reading a "just right book"
Spelling - completing assignments for Words Their Way on Spelling City
Spelling City Homework
Four activities will be assigned per "sort" and can be completed at any point during the week. Spelling groups receive their new sorts on a rotating schedule, so your child will not always receive their new words on the same day of the week. Groups will stay with the same sort for at least 5 school days. On the last day of a sort, students will take their test at school using Spelling City. Please let me know if you are unable to access Spelling City so that alternate arrangements can be made.
Historical Fiction Reading Unit
For the duration of the new historical fiction reading unit, it is SUPER IMPORTANT that your children read and track their thinking (WRITE POST IT NOTES!) nightly. They are part of a book club team that is counting on them to complete assigned reading on time and contribute to the conversation daily. Thank you so much for your support with this and please contact me with any questions.
